The road had to be closed for some time as firefighters and the SAPS Search and Rescue Unit worked to cut the tree from the vehicles.

Rescue Care's Ceron Meadows says the injured have since been taken to hospital.

"The people have all been transported through to hospital for the necessary care that they need. Firefighters and the Durban Search and Rescue Unit have also completed their work," she said.
