Woman hospitalised following Umhlanga near-drowning incident

A woman is receiving treatment at a Durban hospital, after a near drowning incident at Umhlanga beach, north of the city.

Reports from the scene suggest a 36-year-old woman was swept out to sea by a strong current.
It's reported she was first rescued by a member of the public.
Lifeguards then rushed to bring her back to shore where she was assessed and initially treated by a Netcare 911 medics.

The woman was treated on scene and transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
