Protestors believed to be supporters of embattled eThekwini mayor, Zandile Gumede are demanding her reinstatement.

Gumede was placed on 30 days special leave after being arrested earlier this year in connection with a multi-million-Rand refuse removal tender dating back to 2016.

A scuffle also broke out when Gumede's supporters allegedly tried to storm the building.

They claim to have been invited for a follow up meeting on their demands, but were never allowed inside.

Mzomuhle Dube, speaking for Gumede's supporters on the ground, said the mayor must return to her office, while the City Manager must be fired.
