Fists and rubber bullets fly as chaos erupts outside KZN ANC HQ

Gumede was placed on 30 days special leave after being arrested earlier this year in connection with a multi-million-Rand refuse removal tender dating back to 2016.

She is facing charges of fraud and corruption.
Rubber bullets had to be fired after protestors tried to barricade the road outside the party's provincial headquarters.

A scuffle also broke out when Gumede's supporters allegedly tried to storm the building.
They claim to have been invited for a follow up meeting on their demands, but were never allowed inside.
Mzomuhle Dube, speaking for Gumede's supporters on the ground, said the mayor must return to her office, while the City Manager must be fired.
