eThekwini to appoint new city manager next week
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
eThekwini Municipality should be getting a new city manager next week.

Mayor Mxolisi Kaunda gave an update on the process on Tuesday afternoon.
"On our side, we have concluded everything. The assessments that are being conducted are conducted by Cogta,” he said.
“We were anticipating by the end of this week they will be done. So next week, definitely, the council will be in a position to appoint a city manager.
The previous manager, Sipho Nzuza was removed last year after he was implicated in the multi-million Durban Solid Waste tender fraud case.

The selection process for his replacement has been marred by claims of political interference.
Kaunda said there were initially 158 candidates before the list was whittled down.
"People who participate as candidates they have got all the rights to raise issues if there were issues. So we will take those issues as they come during that process."
