WATCH: Early morning protest causes havoc in Isipingo

Durban
Metro Police say a clean-up operation is underway along the M35 in Isipingo, south
of the city.
This
after protesters set fire to debris on the road making, it inaccessible to
motorists.

Residents from a nearby informal settlement staged a demonstration early this morning over a number of grievances.
Durban Metro Police spokesperson Parboo Sewpersad says the unrest appears to be over housing and service delivery issues.
Officers have since dispersed the crowd.ALSO READ: Classes set to resume at DUT
They are now busy clearing the roads.

“The
roads were blocked this morning with heavy equipment and we believe there are
some metal skips also on the road,” explained Sewpersad.
“Heavy plant equipment has arrived and the road is about to be re-opened.”
Sewpersad says areas surrounding Isipingo, like Reunion, were also affected.ALSO READ: Hundreds of men march against GBV in Durban
