DUT student died during peaceful gathering: EFF
Updated | By Natarah Nadesan
The EFF Student Command says, according to information it has received, the 20-year-old DUT student who was shot and killed at the Steve Biko Campus yesterday had not been part of a violent protest.

Police say demonstrators became unruly and hurled stones at staff members.
But EFF's Mangaliso Sambo says that is not what they were told by some students.
"The students were from a meeting with the SRC - they then gathered outside as usual after a political gathering students are expected to sing to create the mood. These were peaceful students," Sambo said.
In the commotion, the student was shot yesterday and died later in hospital.
Sambo says the Business Administration student from Jozini had been a member of the party for three years.
"The family has come forward. They are taking it badly because this is their son and they were expecting a lot from him especially after sending him to school," Sambo said.
Sambo says they want answers.
"What were private officials doing at the student campus, and what were doing at a student protest because they are not trained enough for public order policing."
