DUT strike: No deal reached as wage talks continue

Wage negotiations will be set into motion again for striking staff management at the Durban University of Technology.

The university's Isaac Machi says that they have already registered 50% of their new students for the year

.He says aside from ongoing strike action, the implementation of fee-free education is another challenge they're having to deal with.
"We have to go back to the negotiating table. As long as both parties are willing to negotiate in good faith. We're currently assessing the situation based on the numbers that we have. Currently, we are sitting just below 15 000 students so we hope that the numbers will be building up as we move toward this Friday," he says.
DUT employees want a 10% pay increase - the university is offering 6%.
