Durban traditional healer charged for raping two women

A traditional healer has been arrested and charged for the alleged rape of two women after drugging them during a cleansing ceremony.

It is understood that both victims were allegedly approached by the man who offered to do a cleansing.

Police say he approached one of the woman in a taxi travelling to Port Shepstone, while the other was approached in her home at Ixopo.

It is believed he conducted the cleansing ceremony at the Durban South Beach, then convinced his victims to go with him to his home in Clermont, where the ceremony would continue. 

Police spokesperson, Jay Naicker says the man allegedly then gave them a drugged drink and once passed out would rape them. 

The women would only realise they were raped upon waking up.

The 32-year-old man will appear at the Pinetown Magistrate's Court on Friday.
