Durban man arrested following Montclair hijack drama

A 22-year-old man will spend the long weekend behind bars
after he was arrested for being in possession of hijacked car.
The suspect was nabbed by police in South Coast Road in
the Montclair area, south of Durban last night. Officers say he allegedly tried
to drive through a police roadblock.

He then crashed the car into another vehicle while trying to evade authorities.
SAPS spokesperson, Thulani Zwane says the occupants of the second vehicle were not hurt.
“The driver was then arrested. It appears as if the
vehicle was hijacked in the Umbilo area earlier that day,” said Zwane.
Zwane says the man is due to appear in the Durban Magistrate’s Court on charges of hijacking, drunken driving and reckless and negligent driving.
