Parliament's Standing Committee on Public Accounts says political infighting and corruption within the Department of Social Development led to the resignation of Director General, Zane Dangor.
Dangor announced his resignation today after the department claimed responsibility for the social grants crisis.
Dangor reportedly resigned due to a disagreement with Minister Bathabile Dlamini on the legal obligations of the department concerning the social grant payments.

SCOPA chairperson, Themba Godi says the minister should take full responsibility for this.
"We are angered and disappointed at the resignation of the DG who was only appointed in 2016. Dangor has come across as an honest and hardworking man. To think that the forces of corruption as succeeded in the department - there has to be some accountability. The minister should take full responsibility for this," he said.
