Two SASSA Durban officials arrested for fraud

The South African Social Security Agency has welcomed the arrest of two of its Durban officials who apparently stole from the agency.
The officials - along with a member of the public - were arrested following an investigation by the Hawks.

SASSA spokesperson, Mbizeni Mdlalose, says the alleged fraud involved an amount of R27 000.

"They appeared yesterday. They were granted bail of R1000 each. Their charges relate to fraud , which emanates from divesting a lump-sum amount of money that was meant for a beneficiary, to another account," he said.
