DA KZN seek accountable for sewerage spill in Ugu
Updated | By Nomfundo Ngcobo
The Democratic Alliance (DA) in KZN wants someone to be held accountable for the sewerage spills in Ugu, which it says are occurring regularly.

Margate Beach and the lagoon have been closed to bathers following another effluent leak.
The Ray Nkonyeni Municipality has blamed a faulty pump at the wastewater treatment works.
DA Constituency Head for the Ugu District Rishigen Viranna, says sewerage spills have been occurring for over five years, with a faulty pump.

Viranna says the closure of the beaches will hamper desperately needed tourism to the area.
"The tourism industry was incredibly badly affected by the lockdown.
"The south coast is dependent on beachgoers - visiting the beautiful beaches in Margate, Ramsgate and Uvongo and all of these have been affected in the past by the spills from the Ugu district sewerage plant."
