Concern over Durban City Hall's R1 million facelift

The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) says it has some concerns about Durban City Hall's major facelift.

eThekwini says the iconic structure will undergo a R1 million renovation.
The 111-year-old building and its air conditioners will be upgraded.
New Covid-19 equipment will also be installed - among other things.

City Hall's home improvements were given the thumbs up at a full council meeting.
The IFP KZN's Mdu Nkosi says eThekwini needs to make sure these renovation contracts are awarded to the right companies.
"There is nothing in renovating City Hall, it's important. But what we are not happy it's whereby there is shady work.
"Where they get companies to renovate City Hall but a few years down the line you cant that City Hall was renovated."
