Margate Beach shut after sewage leak

Margate Beach and the lagoon have been closed to bathers.

Authorities on the south coast are trying to plug a sewage leak.
All recreational activities are off-limits until Ray Nkonyeni officials give beachgoers the all-clear.
The municipality's Simon April says Ugu authorities raised the alarm.

"One of the wastewater treatment were faulty and that has resulted to the leak of the sewage to the lagoon and eventually to the beach."
April says they're trying to fix the pump.
"A test will be conducted to the water and once the test comes back clear, then it will be open."
