Classes expected to resume at UKZN campuses
Updated | By Shaun Ryan
The academic programme at UKZN will resume this morning following a forced shut down due to student protests last week.
The varsity released a statement yesterday saying the Executive Management Committee and student leaders have reached an agreement on matters raised in the student memorandum.
UKZN says all campuses re-opened yesterday to allow for the registration process to continue for the remainder of the week. Lectures are expected to get underway again today.
The academic programme came to a crashing halt last week after violent student protests erupted at varsities across the province. Students were upset over registration issues and accommodation.

A plan of action has also been agreed to in respect to critical housing challenges. Management and students will continue to engage on the remaining issues reflected in the memorandum.
UKZN says it is grateful that the academic programme has returned to normal.
