City warns against reckless behaviour following several arrests over long weekend

eThekwini Municipality and the SAPS have reported several incidents around the Durban beach front over the long weekend.

According to the SAPS, a 22-year-old man was stabbed to death at around 1 am yesterday at South Beach.


They say in a separate incident, another man was found stabbed and wounded at the corner of OR Tambo Parade and Pixley Ka Seme Street.


Officers managed to arrest a 22-year-old suspect, who's facing an attempted murder charge.

The City says several people were also put behind bars following a number of incidents involving metro police officers and a municipal employee.


In one incident - a woman was arrested for drunken, reckless and negligent driving -after she knocked over a student traffic warden and crashed into two vehicles.

Three men were also taken into custody for allegedly beating up a metro police officer who'd caught them drinking in public.


A Durban Solid Waste official was also assaulted while on duty at Blue Lagoon.


His attacker also stole the keys to his vehicle. Metro police officers pursued the perpetrator - but lost him after he disappeared in the crowd.
