Sewpersad says they've been on high alert from the long weekend, with thousands of visitors make their way to our shores for the festive season.

Strict security measures are in place to control traffic and access to the beaches.

Sewpersad says they've been issuing wristbands for children at the old drive-in site on Silvester Ntuli and Sandile Thusi Roads. " We are urging all parents who are bringing children to the beaches to ensure the children are tagged."

He also says, "We have gazebos placed on the beachfront in various points, and they can go and tag the children there.  It's important for them to tag the children because in this huge crowd a child can get lost very easily."
