Two separate crashes in KwaZulu-Natal on Friday have left a child and a woman dead.

In Tongaat, a child's been killed in a hit-and-run outside a school.
Paramedics say the girl, thought to have been 10-years-old - was run over, apparently by a taxi.
IPSS Medical Rescue's Paul Herbst says they were told the driver fled.
"The child sustained critical injuries and required immediate intervention. An extensive and prolonged life support resuscitation was undertaken.

"Unfortunately, following the extensive attempt to resuscitate the child, paramedics declared the patient dead."
Herbst says the second crash happened on the N2 near Amatikulu.
"Two vehicles were involved in a high impact collision resulting in the death of a driver of one of the vehicles.
"The other vehicle's occupants - a family of three, including an 18-month old baby - are all in a critical condition and were extricated using the jaws of life."
