Child porn accused out on bail

One of the three Durban men facing child pornography-related charges has been released on R3500 bail.

Jacques Rheeder appeared briefly in the Durban Magistrate's Court - alongside his two co-accused, this morning. 


Rheeder and co-accused, Gavin Fautsman, are due to appear in court again in April - to allow for further investigation.

Police say they have to view an extensive amount of footage related to the matter. 


Fautsman is also out on R3500 bail.

The third man - accused number one, who has also been charged with the rape of a six-year-old child - abandoned his bail application at a previous court appearance. 


He can't be named to protect the child's identity, and is due back in court next week - for his psychiatric evaluation to be carried out by a district surgeon. 


The three men were arrested in December 2016 - following a joint operation between SAPS and the US Department of Homeland Security.
