The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (IPID) is probing the death of a suspect, allegedly as a result of police action, following a drug bust in Chatsworth, south of Durban.
Two people were arrested on Friday during a raid on what the Hawks say was a drug den uncovered in Croftdene.
A source close to the suspect that died has told Newswatch the 33-year-old was assaulted while in handcuffs during the arrest.
