Chaotic morning for motorists on wet Durban roads

It was a Monday morning of chaos on some Durban roads because of the wet weather.

Emergency first responders have been dealing with a number of serious incidents in and around Durban in the morning. 

 

Parts of the province are being lashed by heavy rain.

"Reports are parts O'Flaherty Road being waterlogged. Parts of the M7 near Bellville Road bridge has been waterlogged and also a few low-lying level areas where water can pool and is quite dangerous and you will need to approach with causation and only when it is safe to do so go through it," says ALS Paramedic's Garrith Jamieson. 

 

The South African Weather Service has sent out a level 4 warning for disruptive rain, which may lead to flooding over the extreme south-eastern parts of KZN. 

 

"Mostly the N2 near the Umhlanga and Gateway area, as well as the M7 there have already been approximately about four accidents on the M7 between Pinetown and Malvern this morning. 

 

"We advise motorists to please take care, especially preceding in those wet conditions towards those areas. The M19 going towards Pinetown also has small streams running across it."

He has cautioned drivers using roads in the vicinity of Field Hill to be careful going up and down the route.
