Transport's Mluleki Mntungwa says the man was arrested on charges of reckless and negligent driving as well as failing to stop.

He has already made his first appearance before a magistrate and is due back in court next week.

"We want to condemn this incident and call upon all road users to abide by the rules of the road," said Mntungwa.

He says speeding does not only endanger the life of the motorist but all road users.

"We want to ensure all people using our roads are safe."

Mntungwa says road safety is a collective responsibility.
