Parsons was shot and killed in front of her young child at a petrol station on Tara Road last year.

One of the accused has claimed it was a case of mistaken identity.

The trial of Darryl Murrison and Christopher Housten is currently under way in the Durban High Court.

In an plea statement read out in court, 33-year-old Murrison says he spotted his target on the day of the shooting and indicated to Housten that he was going to 'smash him'.

Murrison says he was determined to kill the target and but Housten tried to stop him.

He says after the shooting, he had no idea he had shot the wrong person. Bianca Parsons is said to have been in the same colour car as that of the person Murrison claims he'd meant to kill.

But senior State prosecutor, Calvin Singh got up and indicated that the state would be rejecting the plea - as they believed both Murrison and Housten acted in common purpose.

While his guilty plea was being read out, Murrison shook violently in the dock and kept his head down.

Footage of the shooting was also shown in court.
