Armed robbery won't affect social grant payments: Sassa

The South Africa Social Security Agency says yesterday's armed robbery at its KwaDukuza offices on the north coast will not affect the payment of social grants in any way.

More than 10 computers were taken by the gunmen, who held up security guards in the early hours of the morning.
He says there is no need for social grant beneficiaries to worry, promising that payments will be made on time.
He said contingency plans have been put in place to ensure the office operates as per normal.
Sassa's Mbizeni Mdlalose says the gang fled in a vehicle.

"We are using an online system, which means that we do have a back-up. It is not a manual system, people will be paid as normal," said Mdlalose.
