Sassa tackles card fraud as four KZN suspects in court
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
SASSA is launching a major crackdown on card fraud in KwaZulu-Natal with a particular focus on a syndicate, believed to be operating in Vryheid.

Four suspects appeared in the town's magistrate's court yesterday, after they were nabbed for allegedly trying to withdraw thousands of rands using multiple SASSA cards.
The two women and two men were caught last week, a total of 79 cards were found in their possession.
Mbizeni Mdlalose, who's with SASSA in KZN, says in April, six people were arrested and more than 350 cards were confiscated from them.
"Sassa and the national director of public prosecutions are meeting continuously to prepare for some of these cases. The sentencing of one of our officials was a joint effort in terms of making sure that we obtain a successful prosecution of those people caught with a Sassa card," Mdlalose said.
