Govt urging remaining cardholders to collect new SASSA cards
Updated | By Jarryd Subroyen
Government's asking social grant beneficiaries to collect their new card from the post office as soon as possible, if not yet collected.
The old cards will expire in September.
The Social Security Agency says the new and improved cards have been designed to minimise illegal deductions such as airtime purchases, electricity top ups and unwanted loans.
Funeral policies on non-child grants, which don't exceed 10% of the amount, is the only deduction that will now be approved.
