Maliwa's legal representative, Patrick Mkhumbuzi told the court that his client wants to give him fresh instructions.

At this stage, it is understood that Maliwa, who is believed to be the mastermind of the murders, might be considering entering a plea bargain.

Judge Johan Ploos van Amstel agreed to allow one day to take instructions and provide the court with the necessary documents to move forward.

The trial is now expected to begin tomorrow.

The boys were allegedly killed in a revenge attack after Njabulo's father ended an extra-marital relationship with Maliwa.

They were last seen boarding a bus after leaving school on a Friday afternoon.

Luyanda's body was found in the Montclair area the following day.
