Andre de Ruyter must be shown the door: ANC in KZN
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
The ANC in KwaZulu-Natal believes that if clear and precise targets were set for Eskom and its CEO, the country would've been in a different position by now.
The party's blamed some of the failures at the crisis-hit utility on what it calls a lack of decisive leadership.
It's held a media briefing in Durban on Tuesday to discuss the outcomes of its special provincial executive committee sitting.
KZN ANC provincials secretary Bheki Mtolo says they believe that if Eskom was serious about turning its situation around, CEO Andre de Ruyter would've been shown the door.

"The board must sign a performance management contract with Andre de Ruyter. They must put clear targets, you must do maintenance so much per week and person month and they must evaluate those targets monthly, quarterly and annually.
"If they can do that, then Andre de Ruyter would be history as early as January 1 - he will be fired on New Year's Day."
On Tuesday, Public Enterprises Minister Pravin Gordhan said that a new board at Eskom will be announced soon as the country suffers some of the worst power cuts to date.
