ANC KZN welcomes arrests in connection with Inanda drive-by shooting

The African National Congress (ANC) in KwaZulu-Natal says it welcomes this week's arrests in connection with a deadly drive-by shooting in Inanda, north of Durban.
Three women who had been attending a community meeting to finalise municipal election candidates were gunned down in September.
Newly-elected Ward 54 councillor Themba Mnguni appeared in court on Thursday after handing himself over to the police the night before.

ANC member Nomthandazo Mbeje was also taken into custody on Tuesday.
"Hopefully the law will now take it's course. We will know indeed what happened and what was the cause of that," says the KZN ANC's Nhlakanipho Ntombela.
"That those are arrested include our councillor and our members notwithstanding we welcome the role of the police because what they did or whoever was part of that cannot be associated with the ANC.

"That was pure thuggery and criminality. It has no space within the African National Congress in KwaZulu-Natal."
Mnguni and Mbeje have been remanded in custody.
