Zikalala appeals to political parties to stop bloodshed

Local government is appealing to political parties to take the lead in defusing political tensions in the province after the murders of two councillors recently.

Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) councillor and Speaker of Amajuba Reginald Ndima, was shot on Saturday outside his Newcastle home.
A week earlier, eThekwini councillor Minenhle Mkhize was gunned down outside his home in Cliffdale.
Premier Sihle Zikalala says all parties need to share the responsibility of stopping the bloodshed.

"The ANC itself is part of the parties we are referring to in the statement. Tensions whether they are going for the elections in as far as local and general elections. Tensions whether they are going for their inter processes.
"Political parties must find a way of defusing tension and ensure that they contribute in stability or in stabilizing the province."
Zikalala was speaking at a media briefing on investigations into political killings in the province.
