ANC axes KwaDukuza mayor and his deputy
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
KwaDukuza Municipality will again have a new mayor and deputy mayor.

On Wednesday, the African National Congress announced it had removed Ali Ngidi and Sicelinjabulo Cele from office.
The provincial task team coordinator, Mike Mabuyakhulu, says they have handed in their resignation letters.
"Following the proper channels, they will continue with their jobs until they have been successfully replaced. We have also requested them to pay back some of the money used to hire vehicles for them from the time they started their term of office. "
Ngidi and Cele, who were elected last November, will stay on as ordinary councillors.
Their removal follows an ANC probe into misconduct and financial mismanagement, including over R1 million spent on hired vehicles and a R173,000 monthly security bill for the mayor.
Ngidi’s tenure was also marked by a R35.7 million embezzlement from the municipal purse, widespread blackouts in December, and a municipal workers' strike this week.
The SIU, KZN COGTA, and Nersa have also launched separate probes of alleged mismanagement.
The party has not set a date for when the replacement will be announced.
