Analysts dissect postponement of SONA, NEC meeting
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
Political analysts have described the postponement of the State of the National Address as a well-played strategy by the ANC.

National Assembly speaker, Baleka Mbete said they had taken a decision to reschedule SONA amid fears that it might be marred by violence and chaos again.
Opposition parties didn't want Zuma to speak with the EFF threatening to disrupt the event.
Analyst, Sanusha Naidoo says the postponement will buy the ANC time to resolve the Zuma resignation issue.
"There's breathing space that they'll have. It must be a case of - we will give him seven days to vacate the office. They could announce that once they have managed to secure some kind of guarantee that he's leaving. They could announce the as early as tomorrow evening about when the State of the Nation Address will take place," she says.

Another analyst, Imraan Buccus, says it doesn't make sense for a president - who's on his way out - to deliver the speech.
"It makes no sense. The State of the Nation Address should be delivered by someone who is going to be the interim president," Buccus says.
Parliament is due to announce a new date soon. Meanwhile today's crucial NEC meeting has been moved to later this month.
The ANC says the decision was taken to postpone talks after Zuma and Cyril Ramaphosa met for discussions.
