Parliament confirms State of the Nation Address postponed
Updated | By ECR Newswatch
Parliament has announced that the State of the Nation Address has been postponed until further notice.
Speaker of Parliament, Baleka Mbete and National Council of Provinces speaker, Thandi Modise made the announcement earlier outside the National Assembly.
A statement issued by Parliament says that President Jacob Zuma was already writing to Parliament - asking that his speech be postponed.
Mbete and Modise say among things that were considered before the decision was taken - was the likelihood of the sitting being disrupted.
The ANC National Executive Committee is expected to meet tomorrow to discuss Zuma's future as head of state.
Mbete says a new date will be announced soon.
