Accused's vehicle tracked to where Siam Lee's body was found

The investigating officer in the Siam Lee case has told the court that the black Mercedes linked to the man accused of her murder was tracked to New Hanover where her body was found.

The 29-year-old businessman is accused of kidnapping Lee from Durban North in January. The State believes that he killed her and dumped her body in the Midlands. 

Late yesterday afternoon, the investigating officer in the case was asked by the state to testify in the man's bail application.

Detective Warrant Officer, Rajan Govender told the Durban Magistrate's Court that the tracking report confirmed that the vehicle moved from Margaret Maytom Avenue to Assagay at the time of Lee's disappearance.

He said the report shows that the vehicle was driven to New Hanover in the Midlands where Lee's charred body was discovered two days later.  

Govender testified that the accused is a danger to witnesses and would jeopardise the case if released on bail. 

The IO is expected to continue with his testimony today.

During his cross examination, the suspect said he needed to be granted bail so that he can support his brother by paying his school fees, assist his mother and run his business.

The state will continue questioning Govender today.
