Unathi Nkayi has an important public service announcement for "weak men" who think it is okay to make fun of a woman's body - especially those who have brought life into this world.

The media personality made the PSA after learning that a local male blogger made fun of her stomach.

"Tummy is flat but it's also giving I've been through some things," the blogger captioned a picture of Unathi wearing a cropped top while out and about.

She was less than impressed with the post and decided to address his remarks in a video she shared on her Instagram page.

The 44-year-old shared the footage a few days before Mother's Day.

“I wasn’t going to do a video about this because I don’t like giving weak men attention but I realised it's Mother’s Day on Sunday, and a lot of mothers get body-shamed for the fact that we can create life in our tummies, bring up life from our tummies, and give life from our tummies," she said.

Unathi also had a message for women who had experienced similar remarks from men.

"Ladies I want you to know it is only weak men who can ever body-shame us for being the miracles we are and also body-shame us for something they are physically incapable of being and doing."

Unathi Weight Loss

Unathi has spoken publicly about her weight loss journey after welcoming her two children into the world - one of whom completed his matric in 2022.

“I tend to gain a lot of weight during pregnancy,” she told Women's Health in 2015. Unathi gained 25kg during her first pregnancy and 28 during her second.

She did the interview two years after revealing that she lost close to 30kg.

The former 'Idols SA' judge said the extra weight she gained after her two pregnancies made her feel insecure. Her weight loss journey started with a friend challenging her to do the Unlimited Dusi Canoe Marathon and the rest is history.

Unathi now spends almost every weekday at the gym working on her fitness and has also changed her diet. She revealed what she eats to stay fit in a 2022 post.

"I have had to work for it. Every day I have had to choose my dreams and that comes with work. Wanting to be happy has meant I have had to wake up and WORK on my happiness," she wrote on Instagram in 2021
