Rihanna's fans are beside themselves with excitement after the NFL confirmed that the 'Work' hitmaker will be headlining its next Super Bowl half-time show.

The 34-year-old shared a picture of her hand holding a football on Instagram on Sunday, sending her fans into a frenzy. No caption was needed! The NFL also shared the picture with the caption: "Let’s GO - @badgalriri @rocnation #SBLVII @applemusic @nflonfox."

Rihanna has spent the last few years working on her Fenty Beauty empire and has not released a new album since 2016's 'Anti'.

The Grammy Award winner's fans are crossing their fingers that her Super Bowl appearance means new music is on the way.

Rihanna was recently spotted heading to the recording studio but fans joked that she was just recording audio for her next Fenty Benty campaign.

But it looks like 'Bad Gal Riri' has been cooking up something exciting in the studio.

Fans will have a long wait before they see Rihanna in action at the Super Bowl.

The next half-time show is only taking place in February 2023.

The year 2022 is shaping up to be an exciting one for Rihanna. The Barbados beauty welcomed her first child with American rapper A$AP Rocky. The couple is yet to share a picture of the baby let alone share his name.

"She really was so excited to be pregnant. She loved it. Meeting her son was of course extremely special too. Rihanna barely leaves his side. She is a fantastic mum. She wanted to give birth in L.A. since she has a big house with a yard. She enjoys sitting outside with her baby," a source told People magazine shortly after the baby's birth in May.

Rihanna also expanded her billion-dollar Fenty Beauty business into African territory for the first time. She officially released Fenty Skin and Fenty Beauty in South Africa, Nigeria, Zambia, Zimbabwe, Kenya, Botswana, and Ghana.

Fenty Beauty - which was launched in 2017 - is reportedly now worth a whopping $2.8-billion.

Recent Super Bowl headliners include Jennifer Lopez and Shakira in 2020; and The Weeknd in 2021. Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, 50 Cent, and Mary J Blige took over the half-time show in 2022.

We can't wait to see what Rihanna has in store for her fans in the build-up to her big performance.

Dr. Dre has already given the star a few tips.

"I’m a super fan of Rihanna. I can’t wait to see what she’s going to do. I just like her and what she does, and her get down, and how she approaches her artistry and the whole nine. It’s fantastic. She has the opportunity to really blow us away. I know we set the bar extremely high,” he said in an interview with Apple Music 1's Ebro Darden.
