'The King of Pop' died on 25 June 2009 at the age of 50. An autopsy report revealed that "the cause of death is acute propofol intoxication".

According to Billboard,  Michael generated a whopping $1-billion in the year following his passing. MJ also set several music records after his death.

The Wrap reported in 2014 that the Grammy Award-winning singer sold more albums in the five years following his death than he did in the last 13 years of his life.

Michael's family - including his daughter Paris Jackson - continues to keep his legacy alive. Paris started a band with her ex-boyfriend, Gabriel Glenn, in 2018.

The 24-year-old released her debut solo album, 'Wilted', in 2020. Paris released new music, including her single 'Lighthouse', in 2022.

She might not be selling as many records as her famous father, but Paris is forging her own path in the music industry. Her alternative/indie sound is very different from the type of music Michael recorded.

Despite the contrast in music choices, Paris told The Evening Standard in 2021 that her father will always influence what she does.

"I think he’ll always influence everything I do in some way, whether it’s subconscious or intentional. I was around that creativity all the time, so I’m sure I learnt a lot of what I have from that," she said.
