Moonchild Sanelly claims #1 spot on UK music chart

Moonchild Sanelly, Jelani Blackman, and Trillary Banks are getting 'Comfy' at the top of one of the UK's biggest music charts.

South African musician Moonchild Sanelly is celebrating a huge music milestone. The 34-year-old's collaboration with Jelani Blackman and Trillary Banks is blazing up the charts in the UK.

According to Music Week, their single, 'Comfy', hit number one on the UK Top 20 Black Music singles chart.  The song appeared on the chart ahead of Beyoncé's 'Cuff It' (2), Lil Nas X's 'Star Walkin'' (4), and Tyga's 'Sunshine' featuring Jhene Aiko and Pop Smoke (11). 

"Look what my boy @jelaniblackman and I did," Moonchild captioned a picture of the chart.

Moonchild has been making a name for herself abroad over the past few years. She featured on Beyoncé's visual album, 'Lion King: The Gift', in 2019.

She featured on 'My Power' alongside Busiswa. The song also appears in the official trailer for 'The Woman King', starring Viola Davis and KwaZulu-Natal-born actress, Thuso Mbedu.

Moonchild, whose real name is Sanelisiwe Twisha, also had international success with her single, 'Cute'. The song appears on her second album, ‘Phases’. Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o recorded a video of herself dancing to the track.

The singer signed an international record deal with London-based label, Transgressive Records, in 2020. Gallo Records still represents her locally. 

Moonchild is gearing up for the release of new music. Her new single, 'Koko, is dropping on November 7. 

"Can u guess who I’m featuring on #koko? Clue: one of my great American besties," she teased on Instagram.
