Kate Hudson features in Finneas' '2001' music video
Updated | By Music Reporter
The music video pays tribute to the 1968 sci-fi film '2001: A Space Odyssey'.

Singer-songwriter Finneas has debuted the music video for his hit song, '2001'.
The video, which is directed by Claudia Sulewski, pays tribute to the 1968 science fiction film '2001: A Space Odyssey.'
'How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days' actress Kate Hudson plays his love interest in the video.
"The playful music video stars FINNEAS, a lovestruck actor on-set yearning for his nonchalant on-screen director, played by actress and singer/songwriter Kate Hudson," a statement read.
Sulewski also reveals her vision for the music video.
"When I first started conceptualising this music video, I knew I wanted to pay homage to '2001: A Space Odyssey,' with nods to some of the film’s most iconic set ups like the fisheye lens and the upside-down sequence, along with a few little easter eggs from the behind-the-scenes of the film (Finneas shaking his head while traveling through space, the diorama reveal at the end)," she said.
"To play off Finneas’s lyrics, I wanted to mix in some light, cheeky moments between Finneas and Kate. An actor hopelessly in love with his director, who couldn’t care less and is only focused on making a great film.”
Finneas released '2001' in 2024. It was the fifth single released from his sophomore album, 'For Cryin’ Out Loud'.
The 27-year-old is Billie Eilish's brother. He wrote and produced her breakthrough smash hit, 'Ocean Eyes'.
They also collaborated on Eilish's Oscar-winning singles, 'What Was I Made For?' and 'No Time to Die.' The siblings also won 10 Grammys together for songs including 'Bad Guy' and 'Everything I Wanted'.
