Kelly Clarkson performed an "extra special" duet with country singer Lainey Wilson on 'Kellyoke' this week.

Lainey joined the 'American Idol' alumna on 'The Kelly Clarkson Show' for a performance of 'Country's Cool Again'.

"It's an honour to sing with you. I'm so stoked for your whole career. I'm just such a big fan, y'all. She is rad," Kelly said.

Lainey released 'Country's Cool Again' in February.

"I was born in boots on humble ground / These kinda roots, yeah, they sure don't grow out / Yeah, even in a guitar town / My crooked drawl, the way I sung /My mama's genes sure stuck out like a thumb/ In a Metro City crowd," she sings on the song.

Kelly and Lainey's duet received an overwhelming response from viewers. Many are calling for Kelly to release a country album.

"Kelly needs to do a country album. Even if it’s cover songs," one YouTube user wrote.

Another user added: "Come on Kelly, gift us with a country album."

A third wrote: "Is there nothing she can't sing?!? She is absolutely amazing!!!! I've been listening to her since American Idol and will be ever more!"

MORE ON EAST COAST RADIO:

Country music is a popular genre in America but has also made its way to other parts of the world.

The genre appears to be taking off in 2024, with stars from other genres crossing over to country music.

Lana Del Rey revealed in January that her new album 'Lasso' is dropping in September and it has a heavy country influence.

Beyoncé also made history in February when she released two new country songs, 'Texas Hold 'Em' and '16 Carriages'.

Both songs will feature on her upcoming album, 'Renaissance: Act II'.

'Texas Hold 'Em' is currently the #1 song on the Billboard 200. Queen B is the first black woman to also claim the number one spot on the Hot Country Songs chart.

It's also #1 on the ECR Top 40 with Danny brought to you by CTM.

Rapper Pitbull also made headlines recently for his collaboration with country superstar Dolly Parton.

Several South African stars, including Billy Forrest, Bobby Angel, Zahara and Cora Marie, also showed country music some love.

Country music is indeed cool again!
