Burna Boy on upcoming album: 'It's a new era'

The Nigerian superstar dropped new deets about his new album and released the music video for 'Big 7'.

Burna Boy has announced the release date of his upcoming album, 'I Told Them'. The 32-year-old's seventh studio album will be released on  25 August 2023. 

The 15-track offering includes guest artists such as 21 Savage who features on 'Sittin' On Top Of The World'.  

 Burna Boy shared a trailer for his new album on Thursday. 

"#ITOLDTHEM 🫡, it’s a new era, new album soon," the 'Last Last' rapper wrote on Instagram.

Burna Boy also released the music video for his latest single, 'Big 7', on Friday. 

The Benny Boom-directed video has already been watched more than one-million times on YouTube. 

Busta Rhymes, Junior Mafia, Shameik Moore and the Wu-Tang Clan's RZA make guest appearances in the video.

Burna Boy coming to South Africa 

The Grammy Award-winning Nigerian superstar made history in July when he became the first African artist to sell out London Stadium. 

He performed in front of 80,000 people at the concert, including Naomi Campbell.

Proud I got to witness this, and see the world embracing and opening the doors ( staying open ) to #afrobeats and the amazing creatives from #africa. Just the beginning…. " the supermodel captioned a video from the show. 

Burna Boy, whose real name is Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, will be heading to South African shores in a few months.

He will perform at Johannesburg's FNB Stadium on 23 September 2023. With a capacity of 94 736, FNB Stadium - also known as Soccer City - is one of the largest stadiums in Africa. 

It won't be the first time he performs in the country. 

Burna Boy was the star attraction at the 2022 DStv Delicious International Food and Music Festival in Midrand.  

An estimated 100, 000 people packed Kyalami Grand Prix Circuit on the night of the rapper's performance!
