Is he wrong? Man tells girlfriend to stop wearing makeup
Updated | By Lifestyle Reporter
A woman has accused her boyfriend of being "quite mean" after he told her prefers her without makeup.

A woman has revealed that her boyfriend "hates" makeup and wants her to wear less or none at all.
She shared her ordeal in a post on Mumsnet.
"My boyfriend of two years has started making comments about me wearing makeup. I’ve never worn a lot of makeup, just some concealer, mascara and fill my brows in," she wrote.
The anonymous poster says she occasionally puts on a bit more makeup when she goes out, including blush and eyeliner, but it never takes more than five minutes.
"It’s not a lot at all. I have nothing against people who like to do their makeup, I think it looks lovely on people, I just don’t have the skill or patience to do it."
Despite rarely walking out of the house in a full face beat, the woman says her boyfriend has started nagging her about her makeup.
"Since Christmas, he has been saying: 'You don’t need makeup. I prefer you without makeup. Your foundation doesn’t match your skin tone, look at this line. Why are you putting makeup on? You’re going [to] the shop!'"
He has also said that he hates it when she wears lipstick. The woman admits that wearing makeup is her "security blanket".
"I wear makeup because I don’t like my bare face; it does feel like a security blanket to have some mascara on to open up my eyes a bit. I’ve always worn it, with or without a boyfriend," the woman said.
"Part of me thinks he’s doing it to be nice, but the other half thinks he’s being nasty? I don’t know why this has suddenly become an issue. But it’s making me feel a bit down. Aibu [am I being unreasonable] to think it’s quite mean?"
Several Momsnet users advised the woman on how to handle the matter.
One person said, "Tell him you'll wear what you want and never mention it again. And mean it."
"Tell him it's up to you and to like it or lump it, or dump him because he's turning into a controlling pri*k," a second user added.
However, some suspected that the woman might not be applying her makeup correctly, which could explain some of his comments.
"Is there any chance at all that you are wearing too dark foundation, etc? Can you ask a make-up counter person?" one woman asked.
Another commented: "Unless you’re terrible at makeup and he’s trying to tell you (and his comments make me think that), he needs to be quiet."
The woman conceded that her tinted moisturiser could be "too dark".
"I’ll see whether I can get a better idea from a makeup counter!"
