A man is receiving treatment in hospital after being rescued from a home in Rockview Road in Amanzimtoti, south of Durban.
Chris Botha
Kingsway High School paramedic, Chris Botha and another off-duty medic responded to the scene after receiving reports of a home that was collapsing due to the severe flooding.
Botha says they were then told a man was still inside the home next door.
"In the house next door, which was very close to where everything was collapsing, a person hadn't been evacuated. We went in and found that a man had slipped and fallen."
"He had cracked his head open and also sustained some serious [suspected] spinal injuries." said Botha.
The resident was stabilised in the home before being carried across the water to a nearby petrol station.
He was then transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital.
