Cousins, 12 and 14, play with gun on Instagram Live, both shot and killed

When two young cousins started an Instagram Live in the bathroom at a party they were attending, little did anyone know that it would end in tragedy. 

Footage from the Instagram Live shows Paris Harvey (12) accidentally shoot and kill her cousin, Kuaron Harvey (14). Seconds later, she shot herself and died.

The tragic incident took place in Missouri, USA. 

According to NBC, officers from the St. Louis district were called to the scene at 2am on Friday morning. 

The pair were pronounced dead at the scene. 

"The victim and suspect were located inside a residence suffering from puncture wounds," police shared with NBC.

Was it premeditated? 

Family members say it was a tragic accident, but the St Louis police department are treating it as a murder-suicide. 

It is unfortunate that guns are so easily accessible to just about anyone in the USA. 

The gun laws give every adult the right to own or carry a gun. It is seen as a person's basic human right. 

It sadly affects way more people than the owners of these firearms, as we can see from this horrific incident.

KSDK reached out to Paris' mother, Shinise Harvey. She shared that her daughter was visiting Kuaron's family to celebrate family birthdays that fall within March. 

"Paris dropped the gun, and it fell, and it went off, to my knowledge. And then when she picked it up by the barrel and it went off. That’s all I know. It was not a suicide. It was just a freak accident,” she shared with KSDK

It is not yet known where the kids found the firearm.

Right now, especially during school holidays, it's important to ensure that your children are safe. 

Do as much as possible to protect them from any harm they might accidentally walk into.
