From Debt to Degree: Slindokuhle Mchunu graduates
Updated | By East Coast Radio
A Big Favour made bigger! ECR & KZN Slots helped Slindokuhle pay off her university debt, and now she graduates with pride.

In 2024, we shared the heartfelt story of Slindokuhle Mchunu - a determined 4th-year physiotherapy student from UKZN’s Westville campus, raised by a single mother supporting a family of 10 in Ladysmith.
At the time, Slindokuhle was facing the very real threat of being unable to complete her studies because of an outstanding university debt of R17 680.
She reached out to East Coast Radio through The Big Favour, bravely sharing her story and determination to keep fighting for her future.

Despite selling perfumes to raise funds, she managed to gather only R1 000; far from what she needed, but a reflection of her relentless spirit.
KZN Slots immediately stepped in to settle her full outstanding debt.
Thanks to their generosity, Slindokuhle was able to register for her final year, get back into class, and continue chasing her dream of becoming a qualified physiotherapist.
Today, we’re proud to share some incredible news.
Slindokuhle Mchunu officially graduated on May 14, 2025!

This was a day made possible by community, kindness, and unwavering resilience.
East Coast Radio and KZN Slots are beaming with pride as we watch Slindokuhle cross that stage and claim the qualification she fought so hard for.
This is what The Big Favour is all about - changing lives, opening doors, and being there when it matters most.
