Eating out doesn't have to be a daunting thing...

There's no doubt that if you don't plan your holiday budget properly, you will be left with nothing before it's time to go back to work.

Who wants to be digging for change before the holiday vibes have sizzled out? No one. This is why it is important to be mindful when spending during the holidays.

But this doesn't mean that you cannot dine out, it just means that you have to make some smart choices when dining out.

We all love a good night with friends and family, and saying no because you don't have the moola is so last year.

Here are some tips on how you can dine out without breaking the bank.

  • As much as the price of everything escalates at this time of year, there are those restaurants that offer specials. Be on the lookout for deals and specials. Also, take advantage of being a loyalty card member.

  • Sharing a meal with someone you are dining with can help save in some way. Some restaurants have large portions so just find out if you can share and split the meal cost.
  • Order a pitcher beverage, this way you can save on individual drink orders.
  • Not everyone has the stomach capacity for a three-course meal but if you are someone who can, then try to avoid the starters or the dessert.

  • Opt for a more relaxed dining experience, fine dining is exquisite but it comes at a price.
  • Be aware of add-ons on your meals, this could end up adding to your bill.

You can always just opt for creating a friend fund, where you all contribute to a kitty throughout the year and then when December/January comes, you have a budget for dining out.
