Imagine you have lost your job due to the COVID-19 pandemic and your savings is taking a hard knock as time passes by. Then you get the news that you have won the lottery and you have become a multimillionaire overnight...

Well, there might be some differences in the scenario, but the one thing that stands true for a mother in the North West province is that she has become a multimillionaire overnight.

We spoke about the draw just last week, checking in with South Africans if in fact they were the winner and just forgot to check their tickets. As it turns out, a mother, who is currently unemployed, won the Powerball jackpot and became R158-million richer.

Ithuba, the national lottery operator, made an announcement on Monday that a woman had come forward to claim the winnings from the July 27 draw. How exciting it must've been for her...

The winner is the second-highest Powerball jackpot winner in the history of the South African Lottery. She holds the title when it comes being the biggest winner for this year and biggest online jackpot winner since Ithuba took over six years ago.

“I would love to travel to Durban, as I have never been there before and I have always wanted to go there for a family vacation at the sea," the winner said.
