Taxi driver in Dubai honoured for honesty in returning Dh1-million to passenger

In case you were wondering, that Dh1-million is in fact 1-million dirham...

There are several things that we have admittedly lost in public transportation, but nothing quite like this!

A passenger recently left behind one-million Dirham in a taxi that they were travelling in.

"Two taxi drivers and an RTA parking inspector in Dubai were honoured for their honesty and good morals." (Khaleej Times)

They were honoured for their honesty and integrity and presented with certificates. Now, if we were them, we would feel humbled by the gesture of good faith, but perhaps something more than a certificate was warranted here?

Not to say that they did anything outside of what was expected under the circumstance, but sometimes showing honour can involve remuneration of some sort, right?

"Nancy Orgo from Dubai Taxi Corporation (DTC) handed over a bag containing Dh1 million left behind in her cab by a passenger. Driver Umar Altaf Hussein, from Cars Taxi, returned a wallet to a customer who had left it in his cab." (Khaleej Times)

We live in a time where people are barely able to make ends meet, so it is extremely humbling to hear that there are still people with honest hearts.

Just so you know, one-million dirham is roughly R4.5-million. Firstly, that it is a lot of money to be carrying around in one bag - are we living out a scene in a movie?

And, secondly, how big was the bag, not that we know how much that amount may look like in notes, but it certainly sounds like a lot...
