Food is something that we generally don't mess around with. But that doesn't mean we are against trying out new things. 

And when it comes to themed foods, sometimes the concept seems wild and exciting but the taste may be questionable. 

In this case, we are talking about the all black inspired theme that Ikea (popular Swedish International home store) featured on their menus last November. 

A popular website that provides diverse and inclusive content from contributors, Nerdist shared their honest opinion of the black hotdog that was featured at Singapore Ikea stores last year. 

The reason behind the all black inspired food was not revealed, but the contributor did share how he didn't understand the appeal in creating a charcoal infused roll encapsulating a black hotdog, which was also filled with black cheese. 

We can admit that the introduction of charcoal into one's diet has become a trend as it is known to have some health benefits. 

Activated charcoal anyway, not the one you use for a braai, so don't get it twisted. 

From helping your skin, whitening your teeth, helping with aging, reducing cholesterol, alleviating gas and bloating, it is also used as a dye in baking and in this case, hotdog colouring.

But wait, it didn't just end there, they also featured some Charcoal Caramel Soft Serve. 

Which one home-based foodie shared was lacking in the caramel department and overpowering when it came to the charcoal. 

Guess some people can be heavy handed when creating darkness. A blackout of another kind.
