A Woolworths customer does a shout out to a helpful Woolies employee and a parody account responds to her tweet. Uh, oh...

We speak a lot about the good and bad associated with social media. But when it comes to using it as a fun tool, very rarely is it truly appreciated for the humour and cleverness that it can bring to people.

Sometimes, we can get wound up, as it isn't easy to find the funny in everything, especially with the daily stresses of life. But sometimes it works to just shrug it all off and have a good chuckle. We think about those candid camera videos that we always see playing on the screens at the bank or at the pizza place - the people always, always come around and just start laughing...

Maybe that's what we all need more of in this life - laughter and not to take everything so seriously. What a world of difference it would make if we all laughed more. Take a minute to think about that. After all, you know how happy and relieved you feel after laughing...

It could be really rejuvenating, even mentally and physically good for you. According to a medical site called Mayo Clinic, the short term benefits of laughter can be noted as:

  • Stimulate many organs. Laughter enhances your intake of oxygen-rich air, stimulates your heart, lungs and muscles, and increases the endorphins that are released by your brain.
  • Activate and relieve your stress response. A rollicking laugh fires up and then cools down your stress response, and it can increase and then decrease your heart rate and blood pressure. The result? A good, relaxed feeling.
  • Soothe tension. Laughter can also stimulate circulation and aid muscle relaxation, both of which can help reduce some of the physical symptoms of stress.

On that note, we all have heard about the Woolworths parody account that is actually called, "Woolworst". Well, their Twitter account is the host of some funny puns and real life moments-turned-satire.

Recently they made a joke about firing a Woolworths employee who was given a good review by a customer who was shopping at a Woolworths in Pietermaritzburg.

Check how it started and then the thread of comments thereafter... (courtesy of Twitter):

It seemed tweeps really took this opportunity to trigger this kind customer. She got upset when she realised that it wasn't actually Woolworths replying to her but the parody account.

What do you think? Yay or nay for these kinds of parody accounts? Let us know below...
